Why Both Nancy Pelosi AND the Republicans Are Wrong

On Tuesday, Pelosi held a press conference to call for an investigation of detainee abuse. That’s great. But she also said that the war in Afghanistan is over. Republicans criticized her for “demoralizing” the troops.

Neither side is right. There is a very real war going on in Afghanistan. But there shouldn’t be, and it’s the Bush administration’s fault that there still is. Had the Republicans not diverted us into the quagmire in Iraq, we could have focused on rebuilding Afghanistan. So the Republicans don’t have much credibility here.

One Response to “Why Both Nancy Pelosi AND the Republicans Are Wrong”

  1. It’s odd that “the war is over” should be seen as “demoralizing troops” if it’s okay to declare “mission accomplished”..,
