When I read the news at CNN.com, I was shocked to learn that another bombing had taken place. The words “We Were Waiting to Die” in large 34-font was plastered across the main webpage, and just like many other Americans and people from all across the world, I felt solidarity and sadness with those in London.
I understand Americans have to be vigilant, and that Homeland Security should reaffirm that, but what I do not understand is why the threat level had to be raised to orange, which means there is a “high risk of terrorist attacks,” when according to the Homeland Secretary Michael Chertoff, “we do not have any specific, credible intelligence indicating an attack in the United States.”
We should be vigilant, yes, but we shouldn’t abuse the threat advisory and cry wolf.
