Stay tuned while we make improvements to our website.
I did the Laura Ingraham Show today with the great Yuriy Bronshteyn of the University of Kentucky’s The Colonel, the most hilarious Campus Progress-member publication. Seemed to go well, even though we were combative. Usual liberal bias stuff.
I’m really writing here almost exclusively for right now. I’m “siddique” for all the wise-guys out there. Or wise-women. This site will get a make-over and some youthful energy soon.
Friends, this blog has been sorely neglected for too long. That will end eventually, but for now, it will be continue to be neglected for at least the next two weeks. Stay with us, or read Campus Progress.
And while you’re pondering homophobia at NRO, consider applying (if you go to Princeton) to write or edit the PPN. Here are the positions that are open; apply by early December. For all positions, you’ll need to fill out an application; email us to request one. You can also email with questions.
Editor-in-Chief is the highest position in the staff hierarchy. The editor-in-chief, after close consultation with the other editors, makes all final decisions regarding the organization of the paper, the disbursement of funds, and the content of the publication. The editor-in-chief is also responsible for calling and leading meetings with his/her staff.
Managing Editor is the main assistant to the editor-in-chief. The managing editor is responsible for official relations between the paper and the university. He/she also assists the content editor in the editing process and the business managers in developing the paper’s strategic goals.
Content Editor is responsible for the writing that appears in our print edition. Thus, it is the content editor’s job to recruit writers, communicate with writers, and copy edit articles in preparation for the publication of the print edition.
Layout Editor (with his/her assistants) is responsible for physically organizing and producing the print edition of the paper. The layout editor works to layout the articles in an attractive and easily accessible manner.
Business Manager (with her/his assistants) oversees the financial side of the paper. The business manager helps to develop long-term financial strategy, raise money from donors, and sell advertisements.
Events Coordinator organizes the paper’s official events. The events coordinator must come up with ideas for events, work the university to organize events, and publicize events to the general public.
Webmanager is responsible for maintaining the website. The webmanager updates the website with new content and participates in redesigning it when necessary.
I did too, though in a very different way.
We’re discussing the article at CP.org. Chime in over there.
Now, the interview is up on their site. Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and click on “Stream” under “Online Now.” Or try clicking here. You have to listen to Helen Thomas and “Morey Meniscus” before you get to my second, but that’s not such a bad thing.
I, however, am bad with this media stuff because I say “um” too much. If you can believe it, I minimized doing this to some degree here, which is scary because I do it a lot on this recording. And they censored the rap, but that’s perfectly understandable.
A moment of shameless self-promotion. I hope you’ll read this investigative report on some Democrats I assisted Bob Kuttner in working on over several months this year. It appears in the October issue of The American Prospect, which I hope you will subscribe to. Sadly, Princeton’s mail service is so slow that I have yet to see the hard copy, which was mailed to me several days ago. It’s a story we wrote with the hope that it’ll have some impact on the electoral process. This is something I hope to follow in the coming months.
Also, a recording of my short appearance on Mother Jones Radio yesterday is now on their website for your listening enjoyment.
I’m supposed to be on Mother Jones Radio sometime between 1PM and 2PM today discussing the award given to Princeton’s filibuster. I think you can listen online, and it looks like there’s some chance that the show will be archived as well.
